Bidding & Auctions

How do I place a bid?
To place a bid, you must first create a verified account and fund your wallet. Navigate to any active auction, enter your bid amount (must be higher than the current bid), and click 'Place Bid'. Your bid amount will be reserved in your wallet balance until you are outbid or the auction ends.
How does escrow protection work for bids?
When you place a bid, the full bid amount is immediately reserved from your wallet balance and held securely. If you are outbid, the funds are instantly returned to your available wallet balance. If you win, the funds remain in escrow until the seller delivers the item and you confirm receipt.
Can I retract a bid?
Bids on NaijaBid are binding commitments. You cannot retract a bid once placed. Please ensure you are prepared to complete the purchase before bidding.
What happens when an auction ends?
When the countdown reaches zero, the highest bidder wins. Both the buyer and seller are notified. The winner has 48 hours to complete the full payment via the escrow system.

Payments & Wallet

How do I deposit funds?
Go to your Wallet page and click 'Add Funds'. You will be redirected to Paystack's secure checkout where you can pay via card, bank transfer, or USSD. Funds are credited to your wallet immediately upon confirmation.
How long do withdrawals take?
Withdrawals are processed within 1–3 business days to your registered Nigerian bank account. Ensure your bank details are correctly set up in your profile settings.
Is my money safe?
Yes. All funds are held in a secure escrow system. Money is only transferred to a seller after you confirm you have received your item in the expected condition.
What currencies are supported?
NaijaBid exclusively supports Nigerian Naira (₦). All amounts are displayed and processed in NGN.

KYC & Verification

Why do I need to complete KYC?
KYC (Know Your Customer) verification ensures all participants are genuine Nigerians, prevents fraud, and complies with financial regulations. Unverified accounts have limited bidding access.
What documents do I need?
You need a valid Nigerian government-issued ID (National ID card, Driver's License, International Passport, or Voter's Card), plus a clear selfie. Documents should be well-lit and readable.
How long does KYC approval take?
KYC reviews are typically completed within 24 hours. You'll receive an email notification once approved. During peak periods it may take up to 48 hours.

Selling & Listings

How do I list an item for sale?
Navigate to your Dashboard and click 'Create Listing'. Fill in the item details, upload clear photos, set your starting bid price, and choose an auction duration. Your listing will be reviewed by our admin team before going live.
How long does listing approval take?
Listings are reviewed within 24 hours. You'll be notified by email when your listing is approved or if changes are required.
What items can I sell?
You can sell a wide range of authentic physical goods — electronics, fashion, art, collectibles, vehicles, and more. Items must be genuine, legally owned, and not on our prohibited list.
When do I get paid?
Funds are released from escrow once the buyer confirms receipt of the item in satisfactory condition. If the buyer does not confirm within 7 days of the expected delivery date, funds are automatically released.
